Sixty-Second Solos For Snare Drum, Timpani, and Mallet Instruments

This book, written by Sean J. Kennedy, is an exciting introduction to solo percussion performance. Each solo contains detailed performance notes, addressing instrument-specific techniques and programmatic suggestions that enable the performer to dig in and bring the pieces to life. Approximately one minute in duration, each solo is perfect as audition material and a great addition to any middle school or high school concert program.

"This collection of concentrated solo Sorbets allow the performer to focus on intense musicality
and projection on core percussion instruments. Its an ideal way to introduce players to the art of
solo playing, as well as being suitable material for auditions and lecture/demonstrations."
- Dame Evelyn Glennie

Sean Kennedy on his method: Sixty-Second Solos
One of the drummers we met at the annual NAMM show in Anaheim, California in 2015, was drummer, educator, author and Zildjian artist Sean Kennedy. He recently published his new method 'Sixty-Second Solos for Snare Drum, Timpani, and Mallet Instruments'. Not a thick book, but one that gives students a way to study audition etudes in a way that all the techniques necessary are covered in smaller pieces of one minute.

Sean tells you all about it in the video with this article.
