Session drummer and clinician Craig Blundell has developed new practice technique and self-tuition method for drummers of all levels, the 'Electronica Groove Challenge'.
The cd is designed to help drummers work on key aspects of playing, giving them the opportunity to nail fills and grooves that can be overlooked at band rehearsals. It promotes the development of new ideas and building the confidence to fit them into the repertoire. As the players progress through the 12 tracks of the album, the tempos increase and in turn, the 'stops' in the music become longer. The stops become very long near the end of the album and not in places one might expect them.
Once they have mastered a particular challenge, Craig Blundell then encourages the players to go back and make the breaks more difficult, building confidence, the ability to count and improve their 'inner clock'.
The cd also includes a 'how to' guide in the inlay booklet for putting all the parts together and mapping out the song.
Before each ‘drumless’ track on the cd there is a brief preview of the track with Craig’s drum parts, so players can get a feel for each track.
The 'Electronica Groove Challenge' is designed for teachers, students and players of all levels and abilities.
