This CD is the perfect buy for a person who is new to Jazz and wants to start out with something that doesn't take a whole lot of thought. However, this music has a lot of sophistication and amazing musicianship. Not so much that it would be difficult to understand. There is a track on this album for everyone.
N'Awlins Greens is the great tribute to New Orleans second line groove, and just gives you that great feeling. Cyclic Episode is a great straight ahead swinging tune for the jazz afficianado. Stop This Train is a cover of a John Mayer tune featuring the great vocalist Alicia Olatuja, and is an amazing melody about life, and the wonderful struggles that come with it. Red Chair is a beautiful waltz, and a nice melody that is soothing and very laid back. Maestro Blues is a great straight ahead swinging tune. T.I. Is more of an avant garde song with just the attention on the drums and sax. Sing is a tribute to the amazing group Yellowjackets, and this tune culminates with the incredible Nicholas Ryan Gant singing very harmoniously over the wonderful improvisation of the other musicians.
