Covering an epic total of 4 discs, the Modern Drummer Festival 2006 DVDs feature unprecedented coverage of the world-famous drumming event with over 12 hours of exceptional performances, exclusive interviews and extensive educational material.
Hudson Music and Modern Drummer Publications are proud to announce the release of the Modern Drummer Festival Weekend 2006 DVDs; two double-disc sets covering the eighteenth and perhaps most exciting and diverse edition of the world-famous drumming event. Filmed at the majestic New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the four discs cover the two-day Festival in greater depth and detail than ever before and feature performances and behind-the-scenes interviews of sixteen of the most influential and important drummers on today’s drumming scene.
Besides providing the benefit of seeing these incredible performers and their performances up-close— and hearing them in superb, studio-quality digital sound— each DVD set also includes essential coverage of the drum artists demonstrating and discussing technique, practice routines and specific examples of their MD Festival performances from behind a practice kit. And, for the first time ever, the DVDs feature several drummer-on-drummer interviews, such as Steve Smith/Thomas Lang, Aaron Spears/Gerald Heyward and others, which produced interesting yet unexpected results as well as some truly classic moments.
Saturday (2-discs, 6:20, HL# HDDVDMD33) includes performances and interviews by Ronald Bruner Jr. (The Stanley Clarke Band), Jason McGerr (Death Cab For Cutie), the historic R&B/Gospel Summit featuring R&B session-ace Teddy Campbell, Gerald Heyward (Beyoncé), Aaron Spears (Usher) and gospel great, Marvin McQuitty, drummer/percussionist Glenn Kotche, master drummer Thomas Lang with master percussionist Luis Conte and drumming legend Stewart Copeland with his band, Gizmo.
Sunday (2-discs, 6:30, HL# HDDVDMD34) features performances and interviews by rock/fusion phenom Dave DiCenso, Latin-jazz artist Bobby Sanabria with Ascensión, Brann Dailor (Mastodon), Mike Mangini (Steve Vai), Danny Seraphine with CTA and Steve Smith’s Jazz Legacy
The two-disc sets for Saturday and Sunday are sold separately and carry a suggested retail price of $39.95 each. In addition, a special bonus pack including both days, all four discs and nearly 13 hours of material is available at a reduced price of $59.95!
