In 1989, the first album "Alex Acuna and the Unknowns' was released. Since then the group continued to play internationally and now 15 years later, there is a new recording available. Released by NIDO Entertainment, Alex's production company, this album is one of his best.
The group comes from Puerto Rico, Peru and Venezuela, mix this with the 20 plus years of working professionally in the United States and you'll understand why the group has its own signature. It's a hybrid of Jazz, Caribbean, South American, African and even some Middle Eastern sounds.
Latin Jazz fans to World music fans will enjoy this CD because it has a wide variety of music to offer. From the opening track on the album "All For Nothing" you'll immediately hear what Alex and the Unknowns bring to the table. The second track is a Lando based rhythm from Peru. Couple this with "O Come O Come Emmanuel" which features the Duduk, a traditional flute from the Middle East. We're certain you'll enjoy this recording!
