This is the debut album by renowned San Francisco bay area guitarist Stef Burns. The CD, titled "Swamp tea", now released in Italy and Europe on Atrheia Records and in Japan on Avex/Bareknuckle. It contains songs with beautiful guitar melodies and powerful playing. Unlike typical shredding rock guitar albums, Stef has created and produced, along with his amazing collaborators such as drummers Narada Michael Walden (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jeff Beck, Weather Report), Steve Smith (Journey, Vital Information), Deen Castronovo (Journey, Bad English, Ozzy Osborne), and Jimmy DeGrasso (Y&T, Megadeth), keyboardists John Seppala and Frank Martin, bassists Myron Dove (Santana, Robben Ford) and Benny Rietveld (Miles Davis, Santana) and Marc Russo (YellowJackets), an album full of soulful tunes (Summer of '68, Echo Lake, Quello che Fai), atmosphere (Swamp Tea), and his rock fusion edge with songs like Walking the Penguin, Wayfunner and Alligator Pie.
Here is what some of his peers have said about his work:
"I've worked with some incredible guitarists such as the great Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Ray Gomez, Tommy Bolin and Robert Fripp. I find Stef Burns to be in the
company of these great guitarists.
P.S. Did I mention Jimi Hendrix would have loved him too?"
-- Narada Michael Walden
"If you are into great guitar music, you gotta check out Stef Burns. This guy is on fire!"
-- Joe Satriani
"Check out Stef, he has a great sound, plays with a lot of heart and soul and tears up the guitar. I like the music on his new CD, cool tunes!!"
