Erstwhile Golden Boy, now-exiled Chet Baker had the gauntlet thrown down on this US comeback album: Play not only backed by a Moog synthesizer but with such fusion hotshots as Michael Brecker and John Scofield. All Baker could do was be himself and play his instantly recognizable, human-sounding horn. It helped that he had ex-Miles Davis sidemen Ron Carter and Tony Williams along, and on "Love for Sale" Baker outshines everybody.
On other tracks, Baker is aided by Paul Desmond in the alto saxophonists' valedictory studio appearance. In their intimate duets, they show that old pros can go home again.
Recorded 1977 in New York City. Original recordings produced by Don Sebesky.
