Terry Bozzio - drums, vocals, lyrics, keyboards and various guitar-like synth solos, percussion and tuned percussion. Billy Sheehan - bass, baritone guitars, lead guitar solo on 'Edge Of A Circle'.
Through Nine Short Films, the iridescent and irreplaceable Terry Bozzio and Billy Sheehan indeed give new hydrogenated, oxygenated, first-rated definition to the concept of drums 'n' bass. Apart, they imprint their projects with stamps and howls that could only come from such distinct virtuosic types. Together, they are a firestorm of digit titillation. Together they most definitely play and participate, within these stand-alone yet unified cinematic soundscapes.
Terry Bozzio – Terry has been insanely and intellectually active in all manner of music for decades. Along with exploratory forays into world music, he is most recently known for the brilliant Bozzio Levin Stevens projects Black Light Syndrome and Situation Dangerous as well as records with The Lonely Bears. Earlier claims to fame include signature, timeless work with Frank Zappa, progressive ego clashes with supergroup UK, superhuman drum madness with The Brecker Brothers, and pioneering pop with his ex-wife Dale in Missing Persons.
Billy Sheehan – Billy rose to prominence as the spider-fingered, fat strings legend in Talas, then moving quickly to David Lee Roth's wildly successful solo band in the mid '80's, then on to more success with a long run of Mr. Big albums. He's recorded three Niacin records for Magna Carta, and has an impressive list of celebrated solo and collaborative works to his credit. Both Billy and Terry have appeared on over 50 albums each.
The sounds on the album seem to vary from Zappaish to Crimsonesque to Peter Gabriel-inspired all the way to modes that call to mind The Police, with little that falls in-between left untouched. This one will most likely surprise you, but should certainly thrill you, too. Terry Bozzio - Drums, tuned percussion, keyboard synthesizers, guitar live, synth. Solos, vocals and lyrics. Billy Sheehan - all basses, baritone rhythm, guitars, lead guitar solo on 'Edge of a Circle'. Magna Carta. 2002.
