This release marks both our studio debut, and our come-back: 'Monument in Time' was released on April 27, 2024. This date exactly two years ago our friend, guitarist, and co-founding member Jeroen van Donselaar (1972-2022) passed away. Halfway through our debut show, Jeroen suddenly collapsed. He died from cardiac arrest doing what he did best: Delivering razor-sharp riffs on stage with a huge smile on his face. He was one of the founding fathers of Beyond the Pale and rightfully so created what we like to call #JeroenMetal as a genre. He will forever be remembered as a kind, loving, wonderful guy with a heart of gold.
This EP honors Jeroen's memory and his extraordinary talent for soul purging riffs. We channeled our grief into art, releasing ‘Monument in Time’ as a poignant tribute. This EP serves as a cathartic expression of loss, resilience, and the unbreakable bonds forged through music.

'Monument in Time': Debut and Come-Back
Beyond the Pale was founded during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 by Johnny Derechos and Jeroen van Donselaar. On April 27, 2022, the band played their debut show during Big Ass Metal Fest #33 in Utrecht. During the show, Jeroen passed away due to cardiac arrest.
On April 27, 2024 – exactly two years later - Beyond the Pale’s debut EP, ‘Monument in Time’, was released. It’s is a poignant tribute to Jeroen van Donselaar, a virtuosic guitarist with an extraordinary talent for soul-purging riffs, and one of the founding fathers of the band. This is also reflected in the artwork, designed by Beyond the Pale guitarist Boudewijn de Kraaij. This EP serves as a cathartic expression of loss, resilience, and the strong bonds forged through music.
