I recorded this album as usual- in full live takes, on two days in late October 2019 and I had a blast doing it! This is not a mix, just the audio from my headphone-feed without the click track. Check out Javier's album when it's mixed and released, lots of snappy Fusion tunes on there! here I am using a 12 x 6.5 DW Collector's series Maple/Mahogany snare with a clear Emperor drumhead and loose snare-wire tension. I should clean up my studio sometime.
Here's a cool Jazz/Funk/Fusion tune I recorded for Spanish guitarist Javier Salinas. I always film all the sessions I'm doing and couldn't decide which take I like more so I sent Javier both. His album is going to be incredible. Great, concise and fun guitar music! Check out Javier's website at www.javiersalinas.com

Here's another song from a recent session for Javier Salinas. I went for larger tom sizes and a lower snare (14 x 6.5 Titanium) on this one. I went for a Fusion/Rock vibe on this one and played very "thematic" fills to create a second tier of recognizable quotes in the music. Some Rata Toms and Gong drum action in the Bridge section and a sweet sounding 19" Mb10 China.
I like to record full takes in the studio, totally old school. I like the tension and the challenge of
only recording full takes and you actually have to learn all the music in these situations which means there 's a lot more playing than editing happening at each session and that means it's a lot more fun!
I got a little creative with the drum -intro and outdo on this one!

Cowbell alert! Another track from Javier's album. I really enjoyed these short, catchy Fusion-tunes. They're all very concise and almost have a Pop-song format with very clear and simple structures and no "lengths". I especially enjoyed the C-section because I worked in one of my favorite instruments- the lovely cowbell!
