...Purpose and release of this recording = unknown.
We still don't get it. There is a vague memory that it might have been done to re-introduce McWilliams to the vocal dementia in case something got out of hand when toying with real money in the studio. It sounds like shit. The playing is 2nd-rate. You do not need it.
So as not to sound overly cynical, McWilliams futilely claims that "it isn't that bad". Despite this, he still insists that he had nothing to do with it and that it was not him on vocals and that the rest of the band are lying bastards claiming otherwise.
Technical mumbo-jumbo - recorded on a piece of crap 4-track tape recorder in our freezing rehearsal room. All tracks were done live with vocals overdubbed (by McWilliams) afterwards. Where the whistling came from is still an uncovered mystery. It's there on the tape though. Removed from the official release... all 20 of them (how strange?)
Despite the fact that this recording exists and was heard all over the world the band still was allowed to go ahead and record their EP. This, combined with the general "strange" behavior of certain band members when in contact with Relapse, goes to show what a state the record industry was/is in.
