The Pulse (or time keeping, or playing in time) is the key for any instrument. A drummer cannot be off on timing when others rely on the drummer putting down the foundation for any musical setting. Russ explains how to understand the pulse and the importance of it. Do not be discouraged by the swing rhythm at the start, this is a lesson about getting your limbs playing straight and in time.
