Drummer and percussionist Walter Rosenberger was so skilled that his playing stood out even amid the world-class sounds of the New York Philharmonic.
Walter was a philharmonic member for 39 years, and its principal percussionist from 1972 until he retired in 1985.
Walter Rosenberger was drawn to music by a lakeside band concert he attended when he was eight, the rhythm and harmony striking him like nothing else had.
He went on to play under masters like Leonard Bernstein and also taught private lessons.
A decade after retiring, Rosenberger and his wife, Bernice, moved to Phoebe Berks Village in Wernersville, in part to be closer to family in Berks County.
In retirement, he and four other Phoebe residents performed as the Phabulous Phoebe Phive.
Walter Rosenberger died in his hometown on July 30, 2013 at 94.
Walter Rosenberger was inducted into the PAS hall of fame.
