Artist biography Tim Dudek
Tim was born in Göttingen (Germany) in 1980. He started playing the piano at the age of 8 and switched to the drum set two years later. At the age of 13 he joined the big band of his highschool (..Jazztified..) as a percussionist and drummer. One year later he performed at the Göttinger Jazzfestival for the first time with ..Jazztified.. and is playing there since then every year with different bands like ..Pourquoi Pas.. (Fusion), ..Now Groove.. (Latin-Jazz) or ..The French Funk Connection.. (Funk).
Between 1998 and 2002 Tim participated in three musical productions (Hair, Grease and West Side Story). In 1999 Tim started to take drumlessons from Stephan Emig who was preparing him for the Conservatory of Amsterdam where he began his studies in 2001 and graduated with a Master Degree in 2007.
Among his teachers were Martijn Vink, Lucas Van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse, Enrique Firpi, Viktor Oscam, Bart Fermie and Kiko Freitas.
He participated in workshops by Jack DeJohnette,Terry Lynne Carrington, Bill Stewart, Ari Hoenig, Javier Campos Martinez and Willie Jones III and accompanied bass players Linley Marthe and Kai Eckhardt during their masterclasses. In February 2007 he received the the "top talent" scholarship from the Conservatory of Amsterdam and The Hague and studied Brazilian Drums & Percussion in Rio de Janeiro with teachers like Marcio Bahia and Maninho amongst others.
