Steve Deceuninck was born in a family of musicians so it wasn't a big surprise when he picked up a guitar at the age of 10. Only a few years later he joined his first band, the blues rock outfit Beggars Farm. But hey, what really got him going was heavy metal music and the only thing to do was start a metal band. A few months later Steve and some friends formed a new band named Buzzard. This band was a fast grower and, after releaseing a dem in 1982, they signed a record deal, followed by the release of their well received first album in 1984: “Gambler”.
And then disaster struck: in October of that same year Steve Deceuninck was involved in a major accident which resulted in 8 days of coma. A long revalidation in hospital affected his career badly: he wasn't able to play guitar anymore.
Since not playing music wasn't an option he decided to start... drumming. The very first band in which he appeared as a drummer was Battalion. They had a short but heavy career, splitting up in 1988 after releasing one demo. Out of the ashes of this band a new band, Yosh was born.
In 1991 some new band members entered the picture and one of them was vocalist Frank De Vos. The new Yosh was born and success awaited. In 1995 they released their first cd Metaphors on German label Black Mark Records . That album did very well so a follow up was recorded. Due to different problems it never got released and by the end of the century the band members decided to call it a day .
Steve Deceuninck and former Yosh guitar player Hanz Six formed the hard rock band Marsta Blasta, a band which still exists today. And the story goes on since in 2001 Native Instinct, who were seeking a new drummer, paid a visit to Steve in his favourite bar trying to convince him to join them. It only took a few rehearsals and one concert for him to realize that he simply had to be the drummer of this band.
