Steve Larson played drums in Orange County’s hardcore band Insted. They were part of the second generation of straight edge – kids that were fans of groups like 7 Seconds and Uniform Choice and wanted to do it themselves. More melodic than hard, they were the scene’s “nice guy” band, with lyrics promoting positivity, non-violence and unity.
Along with Chain of Strength and No For An Answer, they were one of the first California edge bands to venture outside the state's borders and tour the country, gaining a fanbase along the east coast. They also released several records on such notable labels as Wishingwell and Epitaph.
Although no longer in the band, Steve also played drums for the guys of A18 (Amendment Eighteen) at one time.
After Insted broke up, Steve formed Lidsville. The Orange County ' punk rock band stood out as a truly original group whose sound left a mark on everyone who heard it. Lidsville shared the stage with many 1990's notables such as No Doubt, Offspring, Rage Against the Machine, Everclear, The Vandals, Sublime, Social Distortion, Incubus, and System of the Down. Lidsville also released two CDs; "1 Hen" in 1994 and "Sarsaparilla" in 1995. They disbanded in 1996.
Steve Larson is also currently playing in Crashcart, self described as "emo-core with a gun". The band that also features ex-Insted member Richard Labbate.
