A naturally-gifted player, Sammy Clarke is one of Canada's top hand drummers and percussionists. He studied for several years with Nigerian master-drummer, Shola Aloaye, while researching and mastering traditional and contemporary Caribbean rhythms.
As a member of Yoruba, a unique performing company in Barbados, he toured throughout the world thrilling audiences wherever they went.
In Canada since 1987, Sammy Clarke has performed with groups such as Usafiri, Brass Tacks, and Caribbean Folk Performers. As lead drummer with the Collective of Black Artists, he has performed with each of COBA's seasons of dance since 1994.
