Roel "Rule" Sanders (Neer, 1971) is a veteran in the Dutch metal scene. He plays drums in Malignant (1989-1994), Asphyx (1992-1994, using the pseudonym Sander van Hoof) and Disinfest (1995-1998).
Between 1994 and 1997 Roel Sanders hits the skins in Inhume. When he leaves the band to join God Dethroned, drummer Eric De Windt (Sinister) temporarily takes place on the drum throne with Inhume.
After the departure of Roel Sanders, American drummer Tony Laureano (Nile, Angel Corpse) fills in as session drummer for God Dethroned. Soon after Ariën van Weesenbeek as prolonged replacement.
Sanders returned to Inhume in 1999 and he never left the grind band again.
Roel Sanders took lessons frum Jan Voermans. He names Neil Peart, Dave Lombardo, Pete Sandoval, Phil Taylor, Dave Weckl en Vinnie Colaiuta as sources of musical inspiration. The European tour of Inhume with Exhumed and Caphalic Carnage is the 2003 musical experience he can best recall.
And Roel Sanders is not finnished drumming yet. He has plans for a new release with Inhume, including a bonus CD "Live in Hamburg" due to the 10 years' anniversary of the band. He is also busy with new projects, including a rock ’n roll project.
2008 saw Roel Sanders rejoin God Dethroned, after Ariën van Weesenbeek decided to focus on Epica.
It didn't take long however before Roel left the band again. He was followed up by Michiel van der Plicht.
Since 2005 Roel Sanders has also been playing in Motörhead tribute band Snaggletoöth, also featuring John Kuijpers (Rock Fiction, PIT) and Lloyd Koolen (Iezerkop, Villow, Dubbs).
