Rick Dreyfuss was the drummer for bands including The Chumps, Half Japanese, and Coo Coo Rockin Time. Most recently he was lead singer and drummer for the band Spidercake.
Ricardo V. Dreyfuss always liked drumming — or at least beating on things. As an art major at the College of William and Mary, he sawed off a couple of broomsticks and used his bunk bed as a drum kit, making as if he were Mitch Mitchell in the Jimi Hendrix Experience. While serving as a photo lab technician in the Army, he got serious and got practice pads.
In the mid-1970s Rick Dreyfuss decided to commit totally, bought a drum set, and practiced for many hours a day.
Rick died on March 14, 2013 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 58 years old.
