Rae Amitay is a Berklee School of Music-trained, metal session-playing drummer.



In late 2011, Rae Amitay was asked to play drums for the acclaimed Canadian blackened doom metal band, Woods of Ypres. In the wake of David Gold's passing, the band has ceased touring/recording, but Rae and Woods of Ypres guitarist Joel Violette took part in the first annual Ypres Metal Fest, held in Sault Ste. Marie on April 7th.



Rae Amitay joined Calgary's Mares of Thrace in July 2012, replacing Stef MacKichan.



Rae also drums with Joel Violette's blackened folk metal project Thrawsunblat, and is staff writer and publicist for MetalReview.com
