Jim Bailey is the Staff Coordinator and battery arranger for I-2 Percussion. His music experience spans several genres and has been displayed in many countries. He has served as a member, staff member, and eventually Percussion Caption Head of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, teaching the corps from 2002 to 2005 and earning two DCI World Championships in the process.
Jim Bailey has also served on the instructional staff for the Blue Knights from Denver, Colorado, as the Program Coordinator/Percussion Caption head of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, and as an instructor for the Phantom Regiment, where he worked with the indoor percussion program from 1996-1998.
Jim Bailey has been honored with an array of awards which include: University of Indianapolis Honors Percussion Scholarship, 1995 DCI World Champion, and the Percussive Arts Societies International Solo Champion award in 1996. After winning this title, Jim's winning solo was featured in Row-Loff's Modern Tenor Method.
Performing as a three-year member of The Cavaliers (1994-1996), Jim Bailey became the tenor section leader in 1995, leading the corps to their second world title. In 1996, Mr. Bailey was one of 50 corps members elected to travel to Japan and represent the Cavaliers and the United States in a series of performances in Tokyo and Osaka.
Jim Bailey has also had the honor and privilege to work alongside of some of today's most distinguished percussion specialists. During his earlier years, he was a member of the Nite Express Drum and Bugle Corps (1991-1993), where he was honored with the award of most improved member of 1991.
Jim Bailey is currently the percussion consultant/arranger for ISSMA State Finalist Bloomington North marching band. Jim's latest accomplishments include titles with New Palestine High School including 2001 and 2003 IPA State Champion and 2002 WGI world champion.
As a concert percussionist Jim Bailey has performed under the direction of Raymond Leopard (Indianapolis Symphony), Stephen Pratt (Indiana University), and Frances McBeth. Mr. Bailey is an alumnus of the University of Indianapolis where he earned his degree of Bachelor of Music Education.
