Biography:
Caleb Bronz was born and raised in Vermont, USA. He began playing at age 10 and at 12 began studying privately with Jeff Salisbury (Albert King, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and many others). In high school, Caleb pursued any musical opportunity he could find, from rock bands to jazz combos to marching bands.
Influenced by drummers like John Bonham and Elvin Jones, he attended Johnson State College to study music. This college afforded him a chance to work closely with a great music faculty and continue studying with Jeff. While at JSC Caleb pursued another passion: audio engineering. He was employed at JSC as Head Sound Engineer and helped begin the Studio Recording program. He then interned at Charles Eller Studios, where he learned all aspects of audio production in a modern recording studio.
In 1999, Caleb earned a BA in Music with a concentration in Jazz and Commercial Music. Since then, he has continued to play with as many groups and artists as possible, including Johnny A, Mighty Sam McClain, The Gordon Stone Band, Prydein, The Christopher Peterman Quintet, Beat Biters, Smokin' Grass, The Vermont Jazz Ensemble, Voice, Jazzmosis and several others in addition to many freelance performances and recording sessions. He's been a part of groups that play reggae, hip-hop, rock, pop, drum&bass, afro-cuban, bluegrass, free jazz and more, from fully arranged to completely improvisational. Caleb has recorded for such artists as Elizabeth Von Trapp and Jim Hill and the Longhaulers, whose debut album "Endless Road" received sustained national airplay. He played on CMH Record's nationally distributed album, "Pickin' On Jack Johnson". He also played on Grammy nominee and handy Blues Award winner Mighty Sam McClain's latest record, "Betcha Didn't Know", and Gordon Stone's most recent record, "Nightshade".
Recently Caleb has toured the United States with guitar master Johnny A and played a jazz festival in Yaroslavl, Russia, with The Christoper Peterman Quintet. On international tours with Mighty Sam, Caleb has toured many times in Europe and Asia, including extensive tours or Russia and Turkey. While working with the banjo/pedal steel great Gordon Stone and bluegrass band Smokin' Grass he toured domestically and played with many great players including Tony Trishka and Peter Rowen. In 2006 the Gordon Stone Band was featured in the Hat Yai Midnight Songkren and World Musiq Festival in Thailand. Caleb co-founded the hip-hop/drum & bass group Voice and has shared stages with groups like De La Soul and KRS-ONE.
