"Big" Paul Ferguson, born Matthew Paul Ferguson, was the initial drummer for London's Killing Joke. Paul was drummer in the Matt Stagger Band when he met Jeremy "Jaz" Coleman in Notting Hill, London. In October 1978 (or early 1979), after Coleman was briefly keyboard player in that band, he and Ferguson left to form Killing Joke.
"Big Paul Ferguson" provided Killing Joke's characteristic colossal, minimalist beats on drums for years; he was their drummer from 1978 to 1987, and rejoined Killing Joke for their 2008 reunion, which saw the original line-up together for the first time since 1982.
In 2003 Killing Joke made a rather impressive comeback album which featured famous Killing Joke fan Dave Grohl on drums.
Paul Ferguson is also known as drummer with cult English punk band Pink Parts.
