Maxence Pilo drummed in French metallers Heavenly until April 2004. At that time Pilo parted ways with guitarist Frédéric Leclercq and bassist Pierre-Emmanuel Pelisson. The departure left vocalist Benjamin Sotto and guitarist Charley Corbiaux as the sole remaining members of the group. The split is being attributed to "musical and professional" differences.



Pilo continued with Leclercq and Pelisson, forming a new band named Suxeed. In November the musicians announced te rename their band to Maladaptive.
