Mats Nordrup drummed in General Surgery, a Swedish 'grindgore' outfit. He joined the band in 1989 replacing their original drummer Matti Kärki.
However, soon after recording the "Necrology" EP in November 1990, the band called it a day. According to the band Mats Nordrup lay down his drum sticks, walked off into the setting sun, and was never heard from again...
After General Surgery reformed in 1999 and the false start that followed, the band once again was put on ice. The primary reason for this was the problem of finding a permanent line-up, and mostly the problem of finding a proper drummer for the band.
In 2002 Birdflesh drummer Adde Mitroulis (known as the drummer in Birdflesh and touring drummer for Sayyadina) was asked if he was interested, got a few old tracks on CD and said that he wanted to do it. The band played their first rehearsal with drummer Adde in January 2003, and since it went so well, it was decided that the recording should commence as quickly as possible...
Mats Nordrup also played in Crematory and Regurgitate, before disappearing from the face of the earth.
