Since early childhood he's been drumming anytime, anywhere, with everything, imitating his father who used to be a drummer too and his greatest role model during the first years.
At the age of 13, he got his first drumkit and began to learn playing drums autodidacticly. Soon he joined a metalband, which formed his first musical background as a drummer, playing covers of Pantera and Metallica. Later, he joined the school's bigband and also formed a psychodelic rockband. In his teenage years, he discovered and played more funky tunes such as those of James Brown and Tower of Power.
In 1999 he got introduced to Brazilian music and percussion for the first time. He joined several groups, learning the basics of samba, samba-reggae and maracat ú.
In 2002 he did the prepartory year for jazz drumming at the Hans Eissler Conservatory in Berlin. In 2003, when he went to Brazil, things became more serious and soon after his return he decided to do the entrance exam at the Rotterdam's Conservatory.
