Early 2002, four guys and a girl decided it was time to start a new band. In the beginning, their music was mainly oldschool flavoured, but as time passed by it evolved into a mixture of metalcore and mosh with a slight oldschool touch, blending elements from bands such as The Hope Conspiracy, Kindred and Skycamefalling. This mix results in an intense and heavy style of hardcore that combines a wide array of musical impressions. Their sound is even more recognizable because of their female vocalist, whose lyrics focus on personal problems and frustrations, but also on social issues.
In 2003, Broken Circle recorded a mini-CD at De Studio in Asse, Belgium. This material was released on Dutch label Crash Landing Records in August 2003 and received some really nice reviews. Some old (rehearsal room) songs can be found on a compilation CD for the Utrecht Trinity-fest.
In December 2005, Broken Circle recorded their second effort at Bunt Studios in Utrecht with well-known producer Menno Bakker (Reaching Forward, Razor Crusade, NRA, Against Time, Undeclinable). 9 tracks which show a different Broken Circle: Heavier, more metalcore, less oldschool. The release of the record is expected in the Summer of 2006.
Up till now, Broken Circle have played shows with bands like Stretch Arm Strong, Caliban, Face Tomorrow, Union 13, Shai Hulud, Among The Living, Dominator, xMaroonx, Omission, Uppercut, Instil, Malkovich and Razor Crusade.
After 4 years of great fun, the group announed to pull the plug in May 2006.
