Session drummer Laurie Jenkins began playing drums at the age of ten. He worked as a drumtech in the drum teaching studios of Thames Valley University, was a teacher and module writer between 1996-1998. When Laurie was 19 he played for a band called CandyFlip and just got lucky with a hit record. Jenkins:

"From there I hussled a lot, moved down to London, which was a killer, trying to get your foot in the door. The CandyFlip thing had finished and it was like “what are you going to do”. There were a few producers who I knew from that so I moved to London and started picking up work with them. I was having lessons with Paul Elliot at the time and then I got into a band called Apes, Pigs and Spacemen which were signed to Zomba. The usual scenario, lots of gigs, lots of time spent and then spent quite a long time trying to get out of a record deal! After that, I was picking up quite a bit of work with lots of different people – TV, sessions and stuff as well as teaching down at Drumtech. Then in ’98 I got Heather’s gig."

Jenkins recorded and toured with Heather Nova every year between 1998 and 2003, and even managed to tour and record with other artists.



Late 2004 Laurie Jenkins was busy flying back and fourth to the USA were he was doing the TV shows "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and "The Late Show with David Letterman" with Howie Day.



Early 2005 saw Laurie Jenkins working with Howie Day, a 23 year old guy from Maine, USA, who started touring on his own around the age of 16. He basically got into his car and drove around the States doing roughly over 240 shows a year.



October 2005 saw Laurie Jenkins touring with Heather Nova at dates across Europe as part of the Redbird 2005 tour.
