Kyle "The Kid" Peek plays drums with American Idol David Cook. Kyle is also songwriter.
He names Dave Grohl, Aaron Gillespie, Thomas Pridgen, Dallas Green, and the Followill Bros as influential drummers. Kyle Peek recalls how he started: "My parents always found me banging on things and they figured drums might be a reasonable outlet. Even though I was only 3 years old, I fell in love with that toys ‘r' us kit. I begged my parents for a real set for the next 4 years and on my 7th birthday they finally budged and bought me my first real drum set. I immediately started up with lessons because my parents said if I really wanted to do this, they were going to make sure that I did it right. As much as I was set on the fact that I was going to be this great drummer, I wanted to quit so many times because of the fact that it wasn't happening fast enough. I was a very impatient kid and I was never satisfied with just being “ok” at what I was doing. I'm a perfectionist. No one is perfect, but what's the harm in striving for it right? With that internal drive and a lot of help from my family, I've gotten to where I want to be." Kyle received lessons from drum instructor Randy Carr.
