Kiki Ferrer was born as Enrique Ferrer in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba on June 25, 1976. Eight-year-old Kiki joined the Elementary Music School in his hometown, specializing in piano. Two years later he decided to switch to percussion, in what was the first of steps in the building of a professional career.
Kiki Ferrer got a degree in Percussion and Drums at the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte de La Habana (ENA) but also studied Bata (Oro Seco) and Cuban percussion with the legendary maestro José Luis Quintata "Changuito."
After graduating from ENA highest rating in 1995, Kiki Ferrer's virtuosity as a musician began to show very soon with important Cuban artists, such as X Alfonso, Santiago Feliu, and Carlos Manuel and his Clan, with whom he toured nationally and abroad.
In 1999, Kiki Ferrer began to reside in Madrid, Spain. Ferrer has developed an extensive and solid career as a performer both on percussion and drums, which has led to world tours, recording albums and performances with leading names in the international music scene from Spain, such as Andy and Lucas, Alain Pérez, Ana Belén, Concha Buika, Jerry Gonzalez, Javier Limón, Ojos de Brujo, and José Luis Perales.
In 2006, Kiki Ferrer was a creditor of three major awards for his participation in the composition of original music for the soundtrack of the film "Havana Blues": Goya Award for Best Original Score, Medal of Cinema Writers Circle ECOC best original music, and the Award for Best Banda Album Sonora cinematographic work, awarded by the Academy of Arts and Science of Music from Spain.
Currently, Enrique Ferrer is regular collaborating with Ojos de Brujo, and groups led by Jerry Gonzalez and Alain Perez.
