Jason Toop Cooper was born January 31, 1967 in London, England.
Jason Cooper has played drums in The Cure since 1995. After the unexpected departure of previous drummer Boris Williams, a period of auditions was held and Jason Cooper quickly took up residency behind the kit.
So far, Jason Cooper has helped record the studio albums Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers, and The Cure's eponymous album. He also appeared in The Cure: Trilogy.
Unfortunately, most fans are not as receptive to Jason Cooper as they were to his predecessor. This may be due to the fact that he first appeared on the album Wild Mood Swings, which was poorly received because its material was largely atypical of The Cure. Plus several drummers were auditioning for the job at the time, and so Jason Cooper did not in fact play all the drums on that album, even though he is credited for doing so anyway.
But in all fairness Jason Cooper has proved himself an excellent drummer on the latter albums Bloodflowers and The Cure. Some of his best drumming can be heard in the songs "39", "Bloodflowers", and "Spilt Milk", the omitted track off Bloodflowers, in addition to his performance of Pornography on the Trilogy DVD.
