Jakson Spires was founding member and drummer of Blackfoot. He wrote or co-wrote nearly every Blackfoot song recorded from 1969 until 1986, including two of the band's biggest hits, "Highway Song" and "Fly Away". Between the years when the band separated and now, he has had several projects such as Drivin' Sideways, The Conqueroots and Southern Rock Allstars.
In addition to performing in America and Europe, he recorded numerous sessions with legends such as Benny Mardones, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy and blues greats Willie Dixon and Albert King, just to name a few.
Jakson, also known as "Thunderfoot", ignited crowds with his powerhouse drumming and creative style.
Jakson Spires suffered a brain hemorrhage Sunday night March 13th, 2005 and all brain activity stopped, the drummer being held "alive" by machines. Spires passed away from a brain aneurysm in the morning of March 16, 2005 in Ft Pierce, Florida.
