Vitesse is formed in Amsterdam by drummer Herman van Boeyen, Herman Brood (vocals, piano), Rob ten Bokum (bass) and Peter Smid (guitar).
1976
Vitesse signs to Reprise and releases its full-length debut. Do You Wanna Dance/Stay A Little Stranger and April Wind/Steady Rollin' Man are the first singles to be taken from the album. Herman Brood leaves the band for a solo career.
1977
The second album, Rendez-Vous, is released on the Negram label. The single You Can't Beat Me does not make it into the Top 40.
1978
Vitesse releases its third album: Out In The Country. Despite being quite successful in West Germany, Vitesse does not succeed breaking the Netherlands. The singles We'll Do The Music Tonight en Out In The Country don't make it into the charts.
1979
Rock & Roll Band is Vitesse's first hit single. The album Rock Invader reaches number 29 in the album charts.
1980
The singles Whole Lot Of Travellin', Running And Hiding and Goin' Up fail to make it into the charts. Herman Brood, temporarily, returns in the band Herman Brood & His Wild Romance.
1981
The album Good News and the subsequent singles, again, fail to enter the charts.
1982
Vitesse scores two Top 10 hits with Rosalyn (9) and Good Lookin' (4). The album Live In Germany reaches to number 19. The compilation album Incomplete Works And Other Hits reaches to number 15.
1983
The single Julia dents the charts at number 30.
1984
The album Vanity Islands fails to make it into the charts.
1985
The album Keepin' Me Alive is released, but without much success. The same goes for the singles taken from the album: Spanish Heat, Lights In The Air and Keepin' Me Alive. Reason enough for record company Philips to drop the band.
1986
The single A Dirty Mind Is A Joy Forever is released on 21 Records.
1987
The singles Room To Move and I Don't Lose A Friend are released, but without much success.
1988
The compilation album The Best is released on Antilope Records.
1989
The Zoo is formed by former Vitesse members Mark Boon and Michel LeGrand.
1990
The single Ever Since I Met You is a sizable hit in Germany.
1991
Vitesse is joined by Marcus Wienstroer.
1992
The band releases the album Back On Earth on the Red Bullet label. Both the album and the single Happy fail to make it into the charts.
1993
Mrs. Everlast is Vitesse's new single.
1994
All Of The Time is Vitesse`s last single.
After 19 years Vitesse Herman van Boeyen decides to call it quits when the single All Of The Time fails to make any impact.
