Eric J Dubowsky (Englewood, New Jersey, 1975) also known as Eric J, is a musician, songwriter and record producer. He got his start at Greene St. Studios in New York City, the legendary home of early hip-hop artists Run-DMC, and Public Enemy. It was here Eric assisted engineer/producer Rod Hui. That led to a job working with Arif Mardin in 1998.
Eric J has worked with artists such as Freeform Five, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Yuka Honda, Luscious Jackson, Pete Rock, Sofi Bonde, 2006 Swedish Idol winner Markus Fagervall, and actress Emmy Rossum.
Eric Dubowsky was also lead singer of NYC band Essex, which he formed with Jeff Buckley's drummer Matt Johnson.
He sings and plays guitar and keyboards in The Relationship and is producing their debut album.
Eric recently finished work as an engineer for the Los Angeles-based rock band Weezer on their record ' Weezer' aka 'The Red Album' (2008), on which he is also featured as percussionist.
Eric recently began work as a producer/engineer/mixer for the Chicago-based rock band Ultra Sonic Edukators along with Weezer guitarist Brian Bell.
