Ellen began playing drums in 2001. She had been following the Piper Downs and noticed that they were going through a lot of drummers. After buying a Tama Swingstar for $200 Ellen started the band 'Hot!!!' with Garner Knutson. After a couple of shows she loved it and now she is used to practice constantly to the PD records.
After being invited to play a song or two during some Piper Downs shows she was finally asked to play a whole show. Eventually, playing every show.
