Derrick Moss plays bass drum and is cofounder of New Orleans brass band The Soul Rebels.



Derrick "Oops" Moss was born in Charity Hospital, New Orleans and went to Lafayette Elementary. He attended school at McMain Magnet, where he learned how to read and perform concert music, and where he learned to play drums and percussion.



Derrick Moss finished his last two years of high school at Alcee Fortier School, where he marched as the tenor drum section leader in the school band.



After graduating high school, Derrick joined the Southern University Marching Band, where he became their drum major (as a freshman!).
