Deian Monev (drums and percussion) grew up with fellow band members Yanko Brekov (vocals, bouzouki, guitar) and Nikolay "Huby" Hubenov (bass) near the shores of the Black Sea ports of Bourgas and Pomerie in Bulgaria.
The trio started playing driving, shouting, angry hard-core while communism was collapsing under the moniker of Arteria. During the late nineties Monev and the other two musicians moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands and changed their band name to Artery.
