Daniel Barrera began playing drums shortly after moving to the U.S. in 1998. He started playing at his father's church and began listening to various drummers and styles of playing.
Daniel is a student at Mineola High School where he has been exposed to all kinds of music and plays with the Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. In 2004 Barrera was preparing a piece for the NYSMMA Level 6 snare competition.
Daniel loves music and believes that music is the "most fun thing in the world". As he says, "Only drummers know how it feels to play those funky beats".
In 2004 Daniel Barrera was one of the winners of the Regal Tip/ NYS PAS Scholarships, along with Andrew Beall.
