Colin LaRocque played drums in Doheny until they broke upo in October 2005. The California-based band was formed by ex-The Cult touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar), Pitchshifter frontman Jon "J.S." Clayden and completed by bassist Tony Freddo.



Colin, a self taught drummer of some ten years was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He puts his love music down to the fact that he traveled with his parents who performed in a top 40 show band during the late 80's. They finally landed in Charlotte, North Carolina where Colin lived until the fateful day of September 2001. Colin:

"I guess that period of time was a big wake up call for a lot of people. I decided to grab life by the horns."

Hence Colin bought a '69 Ford wagon, packed it with drums and headed for Los Angeles to play in a friend's band.



The drummer has been in a few different wildly different bands that he may or may not be proud of (depending on what day of the week it is. First off there's 'Pigfucker', a heavy/alternative band that wanted to kill everyone. Then there was the 'Aqualads', a goofy surf band that was a total departure from the relentless slaughter of the 'Pigs and a lot of fun. Last but not least was 'Sound Of Mine' who did a few albums and a small van tour of the USA. Oh, the glamour.



Colin's eclectic range of influences include: Mahavishnu Orchestra, Hendrix, weather Report, Frank Zappa, George Benson and Led Zeppelin. Colin LaRockque:

"Growing up I listened to all kinds of stuff, mainly influenced from my parents as they were both musical. My faves were Michael Jackson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report. An odd mix really."

Colin names Jon Wilson as a musician whom he really admires:

"That guy can write a great tine and also play it to absolute perfection. He also produces all his own stuff, which is no mean feat."
