Australian hard hitter Col Hatchman made it to the Guinness Book of Records as the "World's Loudest Drummer". Hatchman set his world record on August 4th, 2006 at the Northern Star Hotel in Newcastle, Sydney.
Colin Craig Hatchman was born in Brisbane and began playing drums in the early 1980s when he was eight years old. He played in marching bands, big bands, metal and punk bands, but found his home with rock bands.
Col Hatchman played with Brisbane-based band Little Hornet which formed in the early 1990s and moved to Sydney during 1994–1999. They released five albums, twelve singles and played thousands of gigs. While Little Hornet was working on their fifth album, Hatchman formed another band, Chicaine. The band was renamed Blue, with Col Hatchman as drummer and lead vocalist.
Col Hatchman also played with The Screaming Jets. Hatchman joined the group in 2000, replacing Craig Rosevear. He stayed until 2005, and was followed up by Mickl Sayers.
Col currently plays with Dirty Skanks. Col Hatchman, who is a highly regarded and successful musician
around the Newcastle area, is also working as a drum teacher at Morpeth Public school.
