Chris Johnson was one of the last 70Â’s babies born in Los Angeles, CA. Born and raised in Fathers church in South Central where he found his love for music. Drums came the easiest for him and so clinging to it he was able to play only in church at a young age. Marching band, Jazz Band, and other school clubs were also a aid in the development of his craft. Chris is now Working, Playing, and Touring with Motown Legend Stevie Wonder and Pop star Icon Rihanna. He has also played and toured with Seal, Patti LaBelle, Mya, Heather Headley, Anastacia, and could be seen playing at his home church in LA when home off the road. The City of Refuge in Gardena CA.
Chris is also married to Sicily and has 2 daughters Madison and Marlee.

Chris Johnson played drums with Anastacia. Performed on North Sea Jazz Festival 2007 with India.Arie. In 2013 he toured with Rihanna for her Diamonds World Tour.



Highly recognized for his incredible work in the music industry, Chris Johnson is one of the most sought out touring and session drummer of today! Growing up in the Greater Los Angeles Area, Chris developed a desire for playing drums in his father’s church. Until this son of a preacher was approached by the music director of R&B artist, Mya, he thought he would play in a church for the rest of his life. After getting this opportunity to work with Mya he knew that what he once considered as a passion would become his career.



Now considered as one of the most seasoned drummers, Chris has played with the likes of such great artists: Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Seal, Nelly Furtado, Chrisette Michele, Heather Headley, Lalah Hathaway, Anastasia, Darius Rucker, Fantasia, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, plus gospel greats like Kurt Carr, Donnie McClurkin, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Beverly Crawford, and Norman Hutchins. He’s a member of the “on the move” band, Legally Blynd. He credits his church roots that gave him the foundation on which he base his career on; he never broke those strong roots and still can be seen at “The City of Refuge” located in Gardena, CA.



Currently, Chris is playing in the house band on the breakthrough TV show, Rising Star, live on ABC every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. He music directs and performs a special residency every Sunday night at The Federal Bar in North Hollywood, CA. Also a skillful producer, he’s working on his debut album which is expected to drop this Fall of 2014.



Currently, Chris is playing in his own band called “Invented Like Stars” and working on it’s self-titled album to be released soon.
