in January 2006 Ben Duinker turns out to be the winner of the Fifteenth Annual Sabian/PASIC Scholarship.
This Scholarship is awarded annually to a Canadian Percussion Major and enables the winner to attend the Percussive Arts Society's International Convention.
Though only in his Second Year as a Percussion Major at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ben Duinker has academic grades of 95% and performance grades of 96% (A+).
Ben Duinker's percussion abilities in performance have won him positions in the National Youth Band (4 years) the National Youth Orchestra (2 years), the National Youth Choir (2 years) and the Ceremonial Guard Band in Ottawa (3 years).
In all of these prestigious organizations, with the exception of the National Youth Choir, Ben Duinker was competing with percussionists from across Canada.
