Andrew Kearton is drummer in London-based rock group Brigade. He joined the band in 2009, after initial sticksman Nathaniel Fimbow had left.



Biography:

Andrew Kearton began playing drums at the age of nine in a studio his father built for him in his shed after being inspired by a video recording he had watched of Phil Gould playing his huge yellow drum set at Wembley Arena with Level 42. Entirely self taught, Andrew was introduced by his father to the music of Led Zeppelin, The Police, Pink Floyd and Genesis and developed his technique through listening and playing along to these records.



Andrew Kearton soon went on to start playing in pubs underage in his hometown of Colchester with fellow musicians much older than himself. He gained notoriety amongst his peers and an early understanding of how to gel with other musicians.



At 17 Andrew Kearton began playing with U.K pop punk band Junk who initially released two indie singles and received excellent live reviews in Kerrang and NME. After signing with N.Y based Spirit Music Group, tracks were soon to be featured in such film soundtracks as Anger Management, Agent Cody Banks, Benchwarmers, Employee of the Month and the U.S TV shows One Tree Hill.



Junk briefly disbanded in 2001 after a successful stint in L.A playing renowned venues including The Viper Room and Troubadour. The band also worked with legendary Ramones producer Ed Stasium. Andrew Kearton remained in L.A and joined Silverlake based Shapes of Race Cars and gigged with them for a year in the west coast.



In 2003 Junk offered Andrew Kearton his seat back and the opportunity to record a new album in the states working with producer Philip Steir in LA. In 2005 Junk split again and then Andrew went on to record with ex 3 colours Red front man Pete Vuckovic in his new project Basskniv3s.



Since then, Andrew Kearton’s main concentration has been playing with acclaimed British band Brigade. Described by NME as ‘a towering beast of as rock band’, Brigade have toured Japan and the UK extensively and played to thousands of people at Download festival.
