When original Valkyrie drummer Luke Shafer got married in April 2004 and left the band to move to Nevada, leaving a space for Mike Hoke, a long-time friend of Eric Seaman (bass) and Jake Adams (guitar,vocals).
Hoke brought a classic, jam-based sound to the drums that truly complemented Valkyrie's traditional, heavy rock sound.
In the fall of 2004 Valkyrie released a promo CD called "Sunlight Shines," but soon thereafter Mike departed. Luckily, Nic McInturff stepped in and completed the band again.
