The organization of EuroSonic 2008 has revealed the first confirmed names of artists. Europe’s prime new talent event EuroSonic is part of the Noorderslag Weekend that takes place from 10-12 January 2008 in Groningen, The Netherlands.

EuroSonic offers over 200 acts playing in 25 venues in the inner city of Groningen and is supported by 26 European Broadcasting Union (EBU) radio stations and by a large amount of European agents and booking offices.
Giving a reliable overview of the most promising European bands and acts, EuroSonic presents the most exciting upcoming talent from all European countries rather than the ‘big names’.
First confirmed acts Through the EBU the following names have been selected for EuroSonic: Miss Platnum (DE), Clara Luzia (AT), Baloji (BE), Hooverphonic (BE), The Tellers (BE), Shangri La (BG), Sunshine (CZ), Who Made Who (DK), Alphabeat (DK), Eliit (EE), Von Hertzen Brothers (FI), The Dø (FR), Little Cow (HU), Jakobínarína (IS), Modena City Ramblers (IT), Cathy Davey (IE), Eternal Tango (LU), Pete Philly & Perquisite (NL), Superfamily (NO), More Than A Thousand (PT), We Are Balboa (ES), Coal (CH), Aloan (CH), Detektivbyrån (SE) and Pete and the Pirates (GB).
Focus on Sweden Sweden is the focus country for the coming edition of the Noorderslag Weekend. In cooperation with Swedish radio station P3, STIM/Svensk Musik and Export Music Sweden a large number of Swedish acts have been selected to play during EuroSonic.
Noorderslag Festival Besides EuroSonic, the Noorderslag Weekend comprises Noorderslag Festival and Noorderslag Seminar. The Noorderslag Festival takes place in the Oosterpoort venue on Saturday January 12 2008. After well over 20 years Noorderslag Festival is still the most important overview of the current affairs in Dutch pop music, with the best and hottest Dutch acts. During Noorderslag the prestigious Dutch award the Pop prize is presented.
Noorderslag Seminar Noorderslag Seminar is the most important business platform for the music industry in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond. Over 100 panels and meetings are held from 10-12 January about current topics in the entertainment industry. As part of the Swedish focus there’s a presentation of the Swedish music industry and a panel bout the ins and outs of doing business with Sweden. More topics are announced shortly.
Radio broadcasts A lot of the shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are broadcast live by Dutch national radio station 3FM. Many of these shows are also broadcast live or at a later moment throughout Europe by the EBU radio stations, in 24 different countries.
