Besides Avril\'s regular drummer Matthew Brann, Travis Barker recorded several tracks as well for \"The Best Damn Thing\". Super-session drummer Josh Freese is on a bunch of songs too.
However, it is uncertain if their guest appearances are going to make the final record: Avril usually records about 25 songs and then just picks the best.
In a message posted on her Myspace webpage Avril Lavigne described the new set of songs as \"really fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident, cocky in a playful way ... all the good stuff.\"
\"The Best Dam Thing\" will be Avril’s third album after “Under My Skin” in 2004. That album sold over three million copies in the United States and landed on number 1 in the Billboard Album list.
The upcoming album\'s first single, dubbed Girlfriend, is due to be released in February 2007.
Avril Lavigne is currently starring in Fast Food Nation, a film about \"the dark side of the All-American meal.\" The movie, based on Eric Schlosser\'s no-holds-barred, non-fiction exploration which exposed secrets of the fast food industry, was called \"the most essential political film from an American director since Michael Moore’s ‘Fahrenheit 9/11\" by New York Times.
