Metal icons Slayer have set \"Christ Illusion\" as the title of their new album, due on August 8, 2006 via American Recordings/Warner Bros. Previously Slayer frontman Tom Araya had announced that the title of the band\'s forthcoming album would be \"The Final Six\".
\"No one is going to be disappointed, it\'s going to blow everybody away. It\'s fast, heavy, and maybe faster than anything we\'ve done before.\"
Adds Kerry King:
\"It\'s a good mix of fast, brutal music and slower moodier stuff, it\'s pretty intense. It sounds like a damn Slayer record. Ya know, fans come up to me and say, \'Thanks for sticking to your guns.\' But we don\'t think of it as sticking to our guns. This is what we do, and if we did anything different, it wouldn\'t be Slayer.\"
Slayer will headline this summer\'s six-week-plus \"Unholy Alliance Tour: Preaching To The Perverted\", which also features Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Children Of Bodom, and Thine Eyes Bleed.
On May 5, Araya had a minor gall-bladder surgery, which forced Slayer to suspend the June 6 launch of their Unholy Alliance Tour. The trek will instead kick off June 15 in Camden, New Jersey, and run through July 26 in Denver.
