Dave "Compact Dynamo" Mackintosh
United Kingdom
Dave "Compact Dynamo" Mackintosh began playing at the tender age of eight, and discovered twin kick drums by twelve. Since then, he knew his musical direction: metal! While performing and recording with plenty of unsigned acts throughout the years, he gained valuable experience not only in his musicianship, but also in showmanship with his thirst for metal grew ever more extreme.

Inspired by artists like Neal Peart, Tommy Aldridge and Mike Portnoy, Dave Mackintosh drummed in Brittish black metallers Bal-Sagoth until April 2004. He joined the band in 1999. Previoulsy keyboardist Jonny Maudling had handled drum duties on the band's first three albums.

Mackintosh decided to leave Bal-Sagoth to concentrate full time on his other musical projects, including DragonForce where he replaced initial drummer Didier Almouzni.

Wacken 2004 should be Dave Mackintosh final performance with Bal-Sagoth. However, in June 2004, after their final night on the road with W.A.S.P., the band was involved in an accident that left drummer Dave Mackintosh with a broken elbow. It left him out of action for at least six weeks.
