New Paiste models added to three cymbal linesSignature, Giant Beat and Signature TraditionalsIn 1996, Paiste launched the Signature Traditionals Series, recreating cymbal sounds of the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's.
A line of cymbals of which Steve Jordan says: "They are essential to my sound."
This year at NAMM, the 17" and 20" Thin Crash models were added to that line. More additions to existing Paiste cymbal lines are the 19" and 22" and 16" Hi-Hat for the Giant Beat, and new 18" and 20" Fast Mediums are added to the almost 30 years-old family of Signatures. Below are a few examples of the expansions Paiste showed in California this year.
First, here are some cool Paiste facts on these new cymbals.
The Giant Beat series celebrates her 50th birthday in 2017 - they were introduced in 1967
John Bonham, Nick Mason, Keith Moon and Carl Palmer played the Giant Beats
Paiste re-introduced the Giant Beat in 2005
Signature series were introduced in 1989
Nicko McBrain still uses them
Nicko's set included a Prototype based on the Fast Crash for many years
The new 18" and 20" Fast Medium models are heavier, and thus sound more explosive
