FXpansion announcingTremor drum machine NAMM 2012 preview: developer reveals new software project FXpansion, developer of BFD and BFD2 (both a fully equipped acoustic drum studio in the box) and Geist (a software sampling drum machine), is now exploring synthetic rhythm terrain with the announcement of Tremor, a new software drum machine.

According to FXpansion, their DCAM circuit-modelled sound generation with harmonic partials akin to a drumskin's modes of vibration. These sounds are fused with new ideas to produce original sounds with the punch and extreme sound pressure of old-school analogue.

Tremor's diverse output includes classic bass drum kicks, snare drums and hand claps, organic hi-hats alongside body-shaking subs, futuristic zaps, scrapes plus textures and sounds that defy classification.

It also offers a step sequencer, effects and modulation options.

FXpansion promises Tremor's dance drums, funky beatscapes and abstract machines to be suitable for "all kinds of electronic, urban and experimental music".

The new software drum machine will cost around $149, €119 or £99 including VAT.
